I plucked my DO--what now?

To the gurus of banandom:

I severed my DO bunch last Saturday. Two weeks earlier, cut one finger and ripened it in a bag with an apple. It ripened up in 10 days and tasted quite superb. So I whacked off the bunch (two had just started to turn yellow.) The bunch is hanging with a Christmas ribbon in our kitchen. Should I be doing anything else (like putting the bunch inside a bag with an apple?)

Your wisdom is always appreciated. Merry Christmas to all. David, if I email you a pic could you be kind enough to post it?

If it works...

Curt,,,, It seems you are doing the right thing... keep it up.!!!
Your indoor bunch should ripen as the others did.

Jeff....

BTW ...
Are you one of those guys who don't know that you can't fruit delicious bananas here in valley!!!

..:)))

Curt, send the pic, you must be warmer?

Curt

Sure, send the pic, I will post it for you.

I know you run a little warmer in Fresno. But I wonder how yours survived all this time. Most of us cut all our banana bunches just before the early frost in November.

My banana leaves got fried off in the early November frosts, we had 29F up here. I believe Jeff even had that some temp, but he did not get as low as soon as I did in the night, and was spare pretty most of his leaves from frosted

David.

D.O. bananas

Hi Curt

Wow and congratulations on fruiting the D.O. bananas. Its always nice to be rewarded with fruit after youve given the bananas the care needed to get to this point. Anyway enjoy your fruit and hopefully your other bananas will do the samething next summer.

How are your raja puri and D Brazilian doing?
