Date palm

Benp, this has been addressed a number of times on CA Palm Board, here is one of them.

I have looked into it, and Phil Nickels has as well for me, but nothing conclusive has come up yet.
Most likely bet is to do a google search on date palm growers in Southern CA, contact them and see who has sucker available. If they do, drive a pickup or trunk down to get them personally and avoid high shipping costs.
I don't have much money, so presently I just have some seedling Medjool dates in the ground, which are a couple years old.
If you have space, you can experiment. I have seen photos of date palms with no visible trunk, and the frond plant height of only 6 feet producing dates. Takes longer and may have failures, but is definitely cheaper.
