Lousy luck with Cyathea medullaris spores

I seem to be having lousy luck germinating Cyathea medullaris spores, which I got from NZ Seeds and have had in sterilized medium in plastic containers for over a month. The temperature is in the 60s in my home. I also tried some spore I shook off a purported Mamaku tree fern in a nearby park. Still nothing. Any advice?

Good luck!

I've tried what you are trying several times with no success

It may not help...

... but you may need cooler temps to get these going. They are generally cool climate plants and the ones I've got in the garden are enjoying warmer conditions than most. They regularly experience lower than 0C in the wild and are pretty tough. They enjoy really humid conditions.
Beyond that I can't help cos I haven't propagated them, I hope you can get them to work

go to the Calhort building in GGP

Get some fresh spore from one of the specimens against the building in the entrance garden for Strybing Arboretum next summer. Some Cyatheas have to sown from green spore, and in any event, success is much better if the spore is as fresh as possible.
