You just don't know what the neighbors are growing.

I went down our hill to visit a garage sale, a real rarity in our neighborhood. While there I picked up great pots and some gardening tools for a pittance. While chatting with the gentleman, I learned that he used to have a greenhouse in the garden and was successfully growing large pineapples to perfection. He was a fountainhead of advice. I guess it pays to get to know your neighbors.

my pineapples are about 3 feet wide

They were grown from pineapple tops. I started them off indoors about a year ago and took it out during the spring this year. They grew real nice after I repotted into larger container. The days are getting cold again and I might have to take them indoors soon. I'm going to force it to fruit mid winter so I can get a nice size fruit this time next year. They'll have a nice long hot growing season in SJ.

nice jobTony...

I didnt move mine up to a larger pot this year. Bad results-ha.

They really are worth it. They might be the sweetest fruits i have grown-when i did it right. Good luck with yours .
