The chocolate sapote is the black sapote.
The chocolate persimmon is a type of persimmon with dark streaking in it, depending on the pollination.
They are related and the black sapote is like a tropical persimmon (being frost sensitive).

Diospyros just as a spelling correction.......
Tom..... you seem to know a bit about persimmon. I have a chocolate persimmon and want the pollinated fruit. Do you know what variety would be a good pollinator for it?

I haven't grown persimmons in a few years now but, the CRFG info sheet on Persimmons suggests the 'Gailey' variety as a good cross pollinator in general.
I think the 'Chocolate' can be cross pollinated by any other variety and 'Chocolate' itself is also used as a pollinator for other varieties.

When I said by any other variety I meant any other Asian variety of persimmon.
There are Amercian persimmons too that I don't know too much about.
