Water and Applles
The latest iteration of what this means to those of us in San Diego....Through some fuzzy math it seems we be expected to reduce our water usage by 10%. This reduction will be enforced primarily using a sliding scale for the water delivered. The more you use the higher the rate.
Well, this is much better than what the city had been telling us, I suppose I should be happy.
Anyway, the biggest users in this garden are two apple trees, simply because they are mature. and they needed to be rejuvenated.
Here is what they look like (Just starting the multi-year project of reshaping these guys)

There is a four inch layer of mulch covering the ground near the trees to keep weeds down and prevent surface evaporation. The watering wells are filled with a finer compost which will keep surface evaporation down and help to feed the trees.
I soak these trees with a garden hose every other week.
