Guava - Ruby Supreme vs. Ruby X - Same Guava ?

I purchased a RUBY SUPREME GUAVA from Pine Island Nursery in Florida. It is Greenish on the outisde and redish / pink on the inside.

Steve Spangler at Exotica Nursery claims he has a GUAVA called RUBY X, which he says is different from the RUBY SUPREME.

They ate both slightly pear shaped.
Both reddish-pink on the inside.

He says he thinks RUBY X is a seedling of RUBY SUPREME, that is much sweeter.

I have compared the 2, and I believe them to be the same CULTIVAR.

Anybody know ?

Ruby Supreme is a hybrid

It's a cross between the Ruby and Supreme variety.

It's also known as Ruby X Supreme.

Spangler most likely has a seedling of the hybrid which could be sweeter since seedlings are variable.

It could also be the hybrid itself and he calls it 'Ruby X' for his own marketing purposes.

RUBY X - Seedling of RUBY SUPREME

Acutally, you are exactly right, from what he said.

He said RUBY X SUPREME (RUBY SUPREME) is a Florida Cultivar based on RUBY + SUPREME.

Steve said Ruby X is much much sweeter than Ruby Supreme since it's a seedling.

The fruit looks almost identical. Green outside, with pinkish / reddish flesh inside, small seed cavity.

But both are sweet. I have only tasted the RUBY SUPREME.

He says his RUBY X is much much sweeter than the RUBY SUPREME, and he even feels the supreme is better for juicing, due to it's sour / acidic nature.
