Possible frost Tuesday
The cold weather is actually a good thing, as it's holding back full bloom on things. It's supposed to dry up over the weekend.
Now how does one go from 90F bright tropical sunshine to this cold damp grayish muck? The plants don't even look green in this light.
The good news is that it's only another two weeks before Spring for California, that's when the angle of the sun is high enough to drive the soil temperatures into the 60's.

i'd love just a possible frost! we're probably going to get dumped for the third time this winter with 20+ inches of snow!

Lots of snow on the East Coast, doesn't sound fun, but it beats ice or a snowless hard freeze.
It's all relative, most of us have a bunch of stuff that could easily get nailed in a freeze that would be considered peanuts for NJ.

i have a few things that are pretty tender. i managed to get a cherimoya and a valencia survive the entire year in ground...not easy. however, the bananas failed miserably.
i guess the snow is supposed to act as insulation? not sure how that works exactly, i guess its the same how an igloo can get to 70 degrees inside!
