Well, the split of the back hive seemed to have taken care of itself. It might be the one in my neighbors tree above his house that I harvested last week. The cluster of bees in the daytime was more than a gallon jug of milk. I smacked the branch with a open hive box below it and the bees that did not land inside promptly turned towards the hive and marched in. Last weekend I moved the hive from the neighbors roof to my roof.
I was surprised that when I mowed I moved the hive 5 feet, the bees acted like they could not find the hive. I put the hive back, one minute later, they all landed.

.My beekeepers Association said blackberries will start to bloom here within the next two weeks and that they are a major source of honey flows with strong pollen. That makes me feel good, my bees will have something to eat when I bring them home Saturday. Even if my trees are finished blooming there is always next year. And by then maybe I'll also have orchard bees established, Japanese hornfaced variety.
