Hello
my name is Archie (except to my mother!) and I garden near Nottingham in the East Midlands. I grow mainly traditional types of vegetables but am increasing my repertoire in the fruit department, I am sorry, Axel, but I dont know what climate zone covers us here, we dont really have climate, just weather. This year the weather has not been kind to us with little sun and much rain, The upside is that the raspberries have loved it,

that will probably do for an introduction

Archie

Thanks for the welcome, nullzero.
As you are described as an expert, perhaps you can offer guidance
I can see where to post concerning apples, but what about plums, peaches and the like? there appears to be no dedicated discussion.
Do people get upset if you post (sensible) topics in the weomg forums?

Best Wishes

Archie

Archie,

You can post under the Apple, Pear, Pome fruits forum. It should be fine to post under the general fruit forum (if its off topic it would just be relocated) gardening/ (more exposure).

Further to my joining Cloudforest and introducing myself, I have now found out my Climate Zone. Incidentally there is more than one type of climate zone classification, as your department of Energy uses one for its own purposes. I presume here we are talking about Plant Hardiness
For any other Brit or indeed Irish citizen thinkung of joining cloudforest, one of our nurseries ( Trebrown purveyors of palm and other seeds ) has produced a map of the UK and Ireland showing our Zones.
It may be seen here
http://www.trebrown.com/hrdzone.html

So I am in 8a ( or maybe 8b )

Best Wishes

Archie
