Welcome David. Torrance is USDA zone 11a, and you have a bit of protection from the ocean thanks to Palo Verdes, which gives you a little more heat, so you should be able to grow quite a few tropicals. This is one of the mildest climates in the continental United States.

Do you have any pictures of your garden?

Yes, I'd like to see pics of your Sapodillas.

Wow, great collection for just starting out. You are in the right place for growing all those too.

I do not have a camera handy for some photos. My trees are still very small though.

Welcome Dnt,

You live near me, I live in Hermosa Beach. Majority of my container garden is in Mission Viejo at my parents home though. Love your collection, the only thing I see you are missing is apples (I am sure that will change soon though  ). Perhaps we can trade/exchange plants and seeds locally sometime.

sure, would love to trade in the future. I have a very long wish list. :D . I traded with your friend recently. Thanks Nullzero, I'm very happy with my new plant.

Hi David,

Nice to meet another passionate gardener in Torrance.
I echo Nullzero's response, and would like to add that avocados (esp. Reeds) grow very well in Torrance. I would definitely suggest adding it to your list.
