Do female date palms have more suckers.

I have 3 seedling Medjool date palms, one only has a sucker or two, it bloomed this this year, can tell it is male, tons of pollen . The other two have not bloomed yet, and have sucker that keep coming out as the trees increase in hight; now have suckers on the trunk 3 plus feet from the ground, is that normal ? Is it a hereditary weak default that goes back to early strains or crossed with a Senegal date palm.

Don't want to deal with suckers as the tree goes out, never figured on this problem; the most, poor quality dates.
