This is seemingly growing wild or by chance, and is in an off limits area to the public where I work. It returns every spring and produces bright 3" to 4" delicate yellow flowers. It has never flinched even in the driest, hottest summers and recieves no attention what-so-ever.
I'd really like to know what it is ... any ideas?
Thanks in advance ... Cheers, Barrie.

Agreed, Kev, Common Evening Primrose. This biennial "weed" originally from easter north America, is quite pretty.

We actually have a native species that grows in higher elevations, but the ones we see here (at Crescent Beach near me, for e.g.) are all this introduced species. Very drought tolerant as you mentioned, Barrie.

It reminds me of Oenothera missouriensis, which I grew once. It has a wonderful fragrance and was one of my favourite perrenials.

That would be perennials. I guess you can only edit if you start the post?

That's awesome! Thanks, everyone at work commented on it and also wondered what it was. Now we know!

Cheers, Barrie.
