Hey everyone,

Hope everyone is enjoying December.. I've been in the mood to do some grafting lately.. Not exactly sure if this is the best time, however a few weeks ago I grafted a few white sapote and one avocado so far have had 100 percent take. ( think I'm finally getting the hang of grafting :D)

I'm looking for white sapote scions I guess any recommended or must have varieties? I currently have suebell and walton

and avocado scion as well.. I'd really like to find Reed

I have Mexicola, Bacon. Hass, pinkerton.. In the future I should have more varieties to trade.

Thanks

Dan :D

I know of two sapote trees of which i can obtain wood. either are seedlings, so you are taking a risk, but they are what they are. one is near the ocean, and seems drought tolerant (very little in the way of precip there) but is still a heavy producer. the other produces heavily, but has ways of staying watered and fed.

the first one will be chopped down soon though.

Dan, I have many varieties of White Sapote but have had a boring worm problem on my Sapotes in past few years. I believe after spraying with bt for a few years I have control of worms. I would wait until chance of frost is over before grafting unless you have a greenhouse. If your still looking for scionwood come spring after inspecting my trees I might be able to share some wood with you. P M me! :D
