I was successful grafting Myrica ruba on the same rootstock that the Chinese researchers used. Myrica cerifera

Here in the Central Valley the Myrica ruba plants did not take well to the potting soil I used and I tried a couple times . Even the Myrica cerifera took some time to adjust to my soil here; what seemed to help was adding sulfur and urinating around my plants; what ever that did, it seemed to help the poor growth and yellowing between the veins on the leaves; on both the Myrica ruba and cerifera. One plant finally took off last season, the other plant still struggles,. I guess a difference in soil and amount of light; this one had less direct sun.

I should note that I had one Myrica cerifera in a 5 gallon pot, it never reached the needed growth flush to take a graft; and over the few plus years that I repeatedly kept adding graft it only served to take it down and it died. Not sure if it was the pot or the potting soil or both.
