My four-year-old Wilma from Devine Avocados in Devine Texas just came through a major heat wave in Tucson with no wilting or other problems. We had several days where temps near the avocado reached 114 degrees. It's in full sun and needed a lot of water, but continued pushing new growth despite the heat. Several small avocados of different varieties (Opal, Mexicola Grande, Fuerte, & Aravaipa) needed heavy shade and daily water, but all pulled through just fine.
