Questions ????

How important is it to remove the snow from the fronds of the palm ? Is it the weight that may do the damage or the fact that the cold snow sitting on the frond may do the damage ? Does tying up the fronds help eliminate them from sagging, or does that do damage ?

Snow Loads

Some genus of palms are intolerable of any snow loads. Others such as Trachycarpus are quite forgiving being that they come from areas that routinely recieve snow. Some enthuisiasts tie up the fronds on their Butia. I usually knock the heavy wet snow off my palms.

Butia

I would recommend knocking the snow off of your butia.
