butia

while it did not get that cold at my place, i still panicked and put out a heating cable for this thing. It must have woken the bugger up, because it has put out a new frond this past week.

Great pics.

Nice plants Peter, they all look beautiful. I especially like Grevilleas. I have a few well established bushes of Grevillea ' Canberra Gem'. They are quite common here because of their ability to survive poor rocky soil and drought. It really only seems to be just the two varieties they grow here, G.victorea and G.Canberra. Some of the hardy ones would be good to try. Your Butia is looking good. Happy New year! Joe

thanks

happy new year yourself! One of these days i'll have to get up there to SSI myself. Kenmore air offers seaplane service to ganges from lake union or kenmore i think; thats a way for me to get there in short order. One of these days i'll have to get up there to SSI myself.

looking great Peter

Hi Peter.
I wish that mine was in full bloom right now. I have two species of Grevillea, but still not in full bloom. The kicker is this year is the first year I have Anna's hummingbirds staying at my place this winter. All my winter blooming plants Azara, Michelia, Mahonia 'charity', etc, flower in mid to late winter. I hope my feeder will last till I get back from my trip, or maybe something will flower. I still have Fuschia blossoms on one my bushes, but they are spars. I am leaving on another trip, and wish I had my Grevilleas flowering like yours are! Beautiful.
