Brookings Oregon Strelitzia

The wife and I drove up to Brookings on Sunday.......and I snapped a few Mediterranean images from, Yes....Oregon. Strelitzia at the harbor there. Matt-Eureka Ca

Another roadside clump

A very nice sliver of waterfront Mediterranean in southern Oregon. Matt Eureka Ca

Peek a boo Pheonix

I noticed the crown of a Phoenix sticking up from across the Chetco river outlet at Brookings harbor....can you see it? The house pictured appears to have a deck built on an old bridge frame. Enjoy. Matt-Eureka Ca

Great pics Matt

It's been quite some time since I drove thru Brookings. Looks as though there's plenty of new construction.

Cheers, Barrie in Lantzville.

a few more famous ones

It's really cool that Oregon has a true slice of the Mediterranean......the Trachy actually looks getter than the ones in Crescent City, as did all the Trachies in Brookings. Matt-eureka CA

Crescent City Ca Washy

One of the few in town, such a pity too......but this ocean front Washy still looks pretty good considering the windy conditions. Matt-Eureka Ca

Leaving Crescent city

A beach heading out of town, and yes the rain decided to fall on Sunday. This is a popular surfing spot.... Matt-Eureka CA

After looking at this picture

I realized a fried Strelitzia was also captured in this photograph......and it appears the Washy may be a new planting. Matt Eureka Ca

Million and a half

American bones for this empty Crescent City cliff dwelling.......looks like nobody is interested in purchasing this risky investment. Somebody has got to be hurting from this build, and the trachiesa also appear to be hurting from neglect. Enjoy. Matt=Eureka Ca

The rest of the cliff dwelling

A tsunami would certainly take this place out.....along w/some years of erosion. I just hope the developer's marriage is still intact. Matt Eureka Ca

On a side note

I was recently in Coos Bay/North Bend, and was reminded of the pure number of Acacia and Eucs in that area. It's quite impressive! There's actually a Safeway that's pretty new, and the entire parking lot is landscaped in (some pretty windblown) Eucs. Very nice if you consider how far north it is! It also appears that Acacia naturalize there as well.

Cool

Man, thats just sweet seeing those palms and plants in OR. THanks for shooting them Matt. But boy, no matter how the view, that house is pretty ugly for 1.5mil blah.

Matt how far is Brooking from you?

I put 2 and 2 together

and realized that the fried strelitzia and washy (in the CC rainy beach shot) were purchased from the Crescent City Home Depot, not surprising. Matt-Eureka

A whole lot of gray sky's there..

Today in the hometown it was like a San Francisco summer day..61f,sunny with a brisk breeze. If you got out of the wind it felt warm-the way you would grow warm needy plants in the city is to block that breeze.
But,i think i could put up with a little cool better than the gray gloom month after month. I have some pics to post tomorrow of my hometown's local open land park..it felt like 70's as the valley location blocked the breeze from the bay-and the noise of the city.Only five minutes away.
Windows are popular i see on beach homes..for the view or to keep from having going lightdeprived?-lol.
