Anyone try Bush iceplant?

I am grow a new ice plant called orange Bush Iceplant, Lampranthus aurantiacus.
Has anyone tried this plant?
Grows rows 15" tall and bright orange flowers and hardy to z6 (-10F) maybe.

Bryce how is your iceplant doing that you got from Matt? I have one that has a few flower buds almost ready to open.

I sell these for only $5.00 at the market and can't keep them in stock. Great looking plant and flower.

Believe it or not but......

The Iceplant from Matt looks better than the usual one everyone has up here. They have taken root very well and look really healthy. You have some from Matt too and they're about to bloom?

Roger, I'd be interested in some of that iceplant. See you at the market sometime.

Did you say Ice Plant?

Glad to hear the ice plant I sent from this Eureka beach is doing well. Matt-Eureka Ca

L. aurantiaca is not that hardy

This one is rated to Sunset zone 14 only, and will be killed to the ground at 25F in most winters. It is a very common ice plant here in the San Francisco Bay Area, but is still subject to frost damage in more inland areas, and it likes it better where it stays milder year round, in that it doesn't like valley heat in summer as much either, although it will tolerate it.

Yeah....

I kind of thought that it was a bit too good to be true but boy it made it through half of our winter in a pot...lol

Since then I have planted it in the ground and its really taken root nicely. Would be great if it proved hardy here, but I'm sure thats wishful thinking...

Push the limits

Bryce, you may be surprised.....just take care of the ice plant in the coldest winter months. Good luck. Here's the original ice plant I sent you sitting on the bug for a size comparison. Matt-Eureka CA

Yeah man

Those babies rock! They're huge and a cutting made its way to Arkansas even...

I just noticed your bug doesnt have head rests, was that normal? I know most older cars didnt have them but its just odd seeing buckets without the heat rest.

too bad.

Stan I think you might be right, The lowest I saw on the internet was z8, but most say 9a. The tag says zone 6,
so it a little confusing to me. So we will see if it is comes back next year.

Matts ice plant.

I got my L. aurantiaca, while in Palm Spring at Lowes.
And Matt ice plant came from Santa Barbra beach, just north of town.

Bryce

The 1960 VW came with small bucket seats and some came w/seatbelts, but this 60 has no seat belts. It's an original design.......dangerous as hell too.
Another beach day w/the ice plant.....it's ranked as invasive according to local native plant lovers, but it holds the beach together in this area given all the sand buggies and motorcycles that have access legally to this small area of the north jetty.
