Before I planted it, it looked like a happy little camper in my breezeway starting to throw out new growth and very very green. Now it's looking a little pale and droopy. I hate to add more water because the soil is not dry.
If I take it out of the ground and replant with different soil, what do you recommend?

Karen, if it's in the ground you shouldn't plant it in potting soil. You should get a good composted mix and add it to the existing soil. I can't recommend a plant mix since we only sell our own brand at the nursery I work for. Use a root stimulator when you first replant it then find a good fertilizer for tropicals. Usually they're high in nitrogen. Hope this helps. Good luck. It seems like a banana would like Yakima's summer weather.

bananas.org has some real banana buffs that really know their stuff, i suggest you go there and search and if you dont come up with an answer then post there. they have all sorts of good info.

It's perking up a little bit, I think it is transplant shock. But it is still not thriving like I expected it to. I will try the compost mix and stay away from the potting soil.
Thanks for the info on the banana org.
