Here's the overall cactus delivery (Minus the agaves).....I'm not sure what Opuntia (SP?) variety these beauties are, perhaps Ian or another cactus expert can fill me in? Matt-Eureka CA

These cactus were difficult to move w/out breaking any of their growth. But, the transport was successful and all I have to do is pot them up. Matt-Eureka

People up here grow nopales more than any other opuntia or cactus for that matter. Nopales are the ones that Mexicans use to cut up and eat, like for breakfast with eggs. They tend to be flat pads, rounded. I think this type of opuntia is called Cholla. I'm growing some, it's just been awhile.
Hopefully we'll get a more precise answer.

Cylindropuntia imbricata maybe? It's commonly called a cane cholla or tree cholla. Those cuttings look nice!

That's my guess too. It looks similar to my imbricata, but it's hard to tell because mine are not much more than seedlings.

I'm not positive, but I think it looks more like Austrocylindropuntia cylindrica. Cool plant.

I have one decades old(arent all my old plants?) that i got from an old couple friend of my parents more than twenty years ago. They collected it in Arizona back in the 60's..mine is a cutting..maybe a cutting of a cutting. Its about 6' and growing in the empty lot next door..planted before there was even a flimsy fence dividing lots. It does need some summer water to do well..more than the Opuntia ficus carica next to it. Must be hardy to the low teens.

Whoever has the right name on the cholla..the care is the same.
