Cham Radicallis

So, it seems i'm the only one on the board who's CR got crushed this winter. I planted mine in early spring so I thought that'd adequate good root growth time. Anyhow, I peaked at it today and it's literally falling apart. I guess I now know what defoliation means. I'm wondering,, since I'm the only one, If I just have mind sited in the wrong spot?

What is an ideal sighting for a Radicallis? Love the palms, want to keep growing them.

Roger, I'm in need of yours that you had for sale a bit ago.

Thanks for any tips.

Shade or dappled light

I have a few of them and they all grow in partial to more shade. None have leaf damage and I never have protected them. Planted them in 1997 I beleive. They are very tough palms. Cheers

Kinds?

Do you think hardiness could be different in the trunking form to the standard variety?

I had it in part shade. It would get sun until 12pm or 1pm and then shade...perhaps too much sun!

CR

Bryce: My experience is that they like light shade and as much warmth as you can give them. That is a diificult combination to provide in the PNW. I have one that is down wind from an asphalt driveway and is shaded by a palm. It is growing the fastest.

I should mention that they hate having snow on them. If you can cover them during a snowfall they will do much better.

Bryce

All I have are the trunking ones left, 1gals, but nice, should have more CR. in late spring.

Thank you

Jeff, yeah, I actually did cover this one during the snow in fact. I think i need to rethink my planting location. I'm feeling like its just getting too much sun.

Roger- Trunking works for me!
