A few volunteers in the Euc's vicinity. However, somehow I don't fear that an invasion of Saltspring is imminent, lol.

A small Tracy in Centannial Park (probably planted by Joe)

That was Trachy not Tracy above. Another Trachy not far away in the same park, probably also planted by Joe. A fairly large E. archeri in the background:

Unmistakable signs of the fall season. Funny how people complain here about the Arbutus trees being messy:

Love the one of those two guys on the Park bench. I just had to take that photo. The guy on the right is a banker on his break reading a book and the guy on the left is the local Bum and town drunk drinking a beer, lol. I usually phone the cops on him, lol. Today sure was mild, Pineapple Express. Lets hope we will be seeing alot of these days throughout the winter, wouldn't that be nice? Cheers, Joe

Those two medium-tall trachys look especially gorgeous for whatever reason. It never ceases to amaze me just how much trachys vary when it comes to aesthetics. But that could only be because it's the species of palm that I'm most familiar with, lol...

Impressive to see the eucs seeding themselves. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Those two Trachycarpus were planted in 1994 as 5 gallon size. They self seed like weeds. I harvest a ton of seeds off of them each year. Cheers, Joe

I really like the last few shots of Joe's garden. Is the yucca in the first photo "Superba" or something else?

Looking good up there you guys. Awesome Eucs. This has been one of the best years for autumn color.

Roger that Euc. is growing at a local nursery and there are euc. seedlings that pop up everywhere. That one just happened to be in the pot of Pieris. I wonder if he'll sell it as a two for one deal? Just heading out with the kids Trick or Treating and then we have a wack load of explosives to blow off. It was a great day to watch the Olympic Torch pass through our island. I took videos of the event and it will be on You Tube shortly. Cheers, Joe

Thanks for the picture breakdown, that is pretty funny. The Banker and town drunk chillin on the bench while one has a beer and the other reads some tips on the stock market..lol.
THanks for posting Vald.

I want to say that is a Yucca gloriosa superba in that pic. Bob aquired a few of those from Gerrad years ago.

Joe:
At what time of year do you find your guerilla planting of trachies seem to do the best? I imagine fall could be good so they get watered and semi established before the drought of summer comes, but then there is always the issue of losing the plant to a bad winter if the palm happens to be wimpy.
I have too many trachies that are just dying to be planted.

When I plant throughout town it's always in the Spring. However in my own garden I'll plant any time of the year, but in the summer months you just have to make sure to keep them watered. In the Fall is nice because the rain does all the work for you. I planted 5 palms in town this past Spring. 3 of them are at the High School. I don't ask, I just doi it, lol.
