Anyone else have any frost?

frost on car windows and even some on the grass. suspected that this might happen (even though the forecasts made absolutely no mention of frost in this area) and placed some newly potted up semi-tender stuff under tree cover. hope that was enough???.

Thats funny you mention your place. I was looking at the average winter lows (38F) in Bandon, OR and admiring your mild winter climate. You guys are a solid 9a with occasionally 8b winters. So I'm surprised it got that cold last night.

IHO,never trust weather data as you never know what it is based on or measured at as there are a multikplicity of micro climates with different highs and lows. also, remember that i am a mile and a half inland so slightly different from an area on the immeadiate coast. that said, the puddles didnt freeze and the flowers on the banksia tree dont seem harmed so my guess is that the air temps were higher than the "grass"/ground surface temps???? will cross my fingers for the next couple of days of possilbly clear cold nights until the next clouds and rain come through. wishing everyone else the best also.

No frost in my yard but a low of just 1.3C and that was enough to singe the leaves a bit on a few things (Musa Bordelon, Brugmansia etc). Decided to take out all 3 Ensete today as they are so tattered from the latest wind storms that they weren't adding much to the garden aesthetically anyway. Plus, it wasn't raining today and that made the work easier. After cutting off all the leaves, still quite the job to get something weighing a few hundred pounds and seven feet tall out of the ground, into a pot and down a flight of stairs into the basement for the winter. Glad that's only one day a year.
Some things still look great and full of flowers: Fuchsias, Cuphea, Zauchneria, Phygelius, Zantedeschia, even Mina lobata is still blooming.

I had some as well. Nanners look a bit yellow, still have gingers going. My bananas are mostly hammered from the wind.

I have huge Brugmansia out there still blooming with flawless foliage.

It was 29F overnight and the temperature was below freezing for quite a while - the soil in the tops of pots left in the open froze solid. However everything in the shade house and under tree canopy seemed not to freeze. I think I protected everything adequately.

32.8F the low so far this winter season, just checked as i got back from Maui minutes ago, my station stopped uploading so I could not check it while i was gone, but first thing i did when i got back was upload it. Yeah, no freeze yet, but so much nicer in our 50th state this past week.....

Just got into Maui last night, Peter. The next 2 weeks will be a lot easier to take with hot sun and the gentle trades here in Kihei.

I coul relate to being in Hawaii right now. Our friends just returned home from Kauai a few days ago after spending the last 70 days there. The weather took a turn for the worst just a few days after they left. Apparently some areas over there are getting a wack load of rain. Hopefully Maui will escape it while you are there. I'm already planning my next trip to Hawaii. Have fun!!! Cheers, Joe

Apparently Kauai is getting swamped with rain. Thankfully Kihei on Maui only rains about 7 days a year (according to our neighbour here), so no problem getting sunburnt the last few days. Kinda windy in parts, the trade winds are unseasonably strong according to the locals...for this time of year.

Glen when we were on O'ahu late Aug. into Sep. the Trade winds blew daily. That's why Hawaii is so perfect because the climate is. I have never felt uncomfortable in the heat. Have fun. Cheers, Joe
