Lot's of plant pics from Ballard

I hate to do this, but please cut and paste the address to see the pics. There are soooo many, I just can't post them one by one without spending too much time.

Butia?

I had no idea Butia was capable of growing in Seattle, or is it on of those freeze-to-the-ground every 10 years type plants?

Great pics

Lots of interesting plants in Seatlle. Can't wait to go back there and check it out myself. Love those Camellias. Perfect weather here as well. Spent all day pruning and looks like I could be done before mid-February for first time ever. Thanks for taking the time to post those pics.

Butia

I have had this one since I planted it as a one gallon plant in the 1990s

Very nice Butia

I guess you don't have much to worry about considering Bremerton's record low, I just checked, was 7 degrees in 1990. Is your plan to get out an orchard heater or something come a serious cold spell? It'd be such a shame to loose it.

Sven

I don't have any way to protect these plants, so if it get's too cold that will be that. So far it really hasn't been too much of a problem. That little Butia seems to look fine, and it was planted in the fall. The big one has been there for over 15 years, and it should be able to take some really cold weather, should it come.
