Does anyone add seaweed fertiliser to palms?

Add some seaweed extract fertiliser to the earth when planting, the reason being that it should help to stop the ground from freezing in winter due to the salt content.

If so how much? Will it harm some types of plams?

I do

Every year come late summer I head across th street to the beach and gather a ton of sea weed. I spread it all over my gardens at several inches thick. It eventually rots down ands nutrients to my poor soil. When that breaks down I add well composted manures as a top dressing as well. Cheers, Joe
