Clear and cold

I awoke to a rather frosty morning here on the rock. My low temp. was -1.4 celcius this morning. I spent about an hour mulching my outdoor potted palms. I have nearly 2,000 of them sitting out in the open. I'm sure tonight we can expect to see some snow here on the island. Extremely high winds and snow are forcast for the mainland. I don't think we will get the winds here, but I bet we get much more snow. Joe

Cold here overnight = -3C

This is the coldest that I have seen so far this winter. As soon as the sun appeared, it started warming rapidly.

I moved my Jubaeas inside the garage last night. Everything else seems fine.

Clouds rolling in

At 3:30 pm the clouds are starting to move in. The current temps. are rather on the chilly side, so I do expect to see some snow if the temps. don't rise. I'm ready for any cold Old Man Winter wants to dish out. Any of my most tender plants are mulched or shoved into a good microclimate. The forcast for the rest of the week is calling for rain and normal temps. Joe

No frost here Sunday morning although it was clear and in the mid 30s. At 3:30 pm it was already raining in Olympia.

More Slush

What started out as rain last night, slowly turned to wet snow. Overnight only in Lantzville / North Nanaimo did the slush happen, about an inch. It's melting fast under sunny skies. Cheers, Barrie
