Butia seeds

I just got some Butia c. seeds. I understand that they take 9-24 months to geminate. Anyone had any success growing these? And what method did you use?

some like it hot

First allow the seeds to dry out for about 6 weeks if they haven't already. Try a baggie with moist perlite, at a temperature of about 85F. I have never done all that well B. capitata, however B. bonnettii seeds are sprouting like crazy.

try this

If you have plenty of seed then try cracking open the outer shell of some, you will find 1 to 3 seeds inside.
I germinated yatay at 80% success within 6 to 8 weeks this way, the seed pods not cracked are still bagged a year on.
Be carefull if you try this as the seeds are like bullets if you hit them wrong, and you will damage several before you find the best way.
